Millstone Township, “An Environmentally Concerned Community”, supports a number of active committees and programs to enhance the quality of life in the township.  The Environmental Commission is the local environmental advocate for environmental projects, the Historic Commission is currently collecting artifacts, photos and other relics from residents, the Parks and Recreation Commission sponsors activities that provide equal opportunity to all participants and believes that competition must be secondary to the recreational needs of participants, and the Shade Tree Commission is charged with “the regulation, planting, care and control of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery upon and in the streets, highways, public places, parks and parkways of this municipality...” (Millstone Township’s Master Plan).

Millstone Township officially entered into the Association’s Program for Municipal Excellence in May 2004.  A full description of the work completed in Millstone Township can be found in Millstone’s Municipal Assessment report entitled “Taking the Next Step”.  This report is a document for municipal officials to use now and into the future.  It lays out options to enhance programs or policies already on the books in Millstone Township and highlights work completed in the township.
